Be healthy Up there

It took me more than three years of flying to realize I need to gather my lazybones & do something - for a dehydrated body, for the dying brain cells reduced to the memory of a goldfish, for the receding hairline, for the constant backache & swollen feet, adamant acnes & infections, & the list goes on..
One fine night I took a pen & decided to fight back. Here is a list of what I scribbled down that night that is still keeping me afloat!

  • FATFLUSH:

Cucumber + Lemon + Ginger + Mint leaves + Water. Excellent for people like me who are not in the habit of drinking water simply because I find the taste boring. Cucumber stimulates the body to feel more full. Lemon revs up metabolism. Ginger is a healing food which you should add wherever possible. Mint aids the digestive process. You will loose some pounds plus stay hydrated.

  • GREEN TEA:

It’s the catechins! These are a part of green tea that get your body to switch over to burning more calories, as well as fat. Add Honey + Lemon + Ginger. This one is my favourite as it tastes good plus gives me mental satisfaction because of the anti-oxidants it contains. Have 2-3 times a day.

  • CRANWATER:

100% Cranberry juice + Water. Cranberry has anti-oxidants. Also dissolves fatty deposits. People should not self-treat urinary tract infections, and anyone who suspects they have an infection should see a doctor, but drinking cranberry juice may be an easy, inexpensive way to help keep E. coli at bay.

  • POMEGRANATE: Less known fact that it has more anti-oxidants than Green Tea. Add Pineapple + Lemon for a refreshing drink. It will keep your skin glowing & radiant for a long time. Punicic acid is one of the main constituents of pomegranates that help lower cholesterol, triglycerides & reduce blood pressure. One pomegranate can fulfil about 45% of your daily recommended intake of fibre, which is about 20-35g. Apart from reducing the body’s internal oxidative stress, pomegranates also help lower psychological stress.

  • GOLDEN DETOX:

Turmeric + Ginger + Lemon + Cayenne pepper + Water. Turmeric boosts metabolism & helps the liver break down toxic chemicals. A component present in turmeric helps increase the flow of bile, an important component in the breakdown of dietary fat. Turmeric can help prevent prostate cancer, stop the growth of existing prostate cancer & even destroy cancer cells. The anti-inflammatory properties in turmeric are great for treating arthritis & can also be used in the treatment of diabetes by helping to moderate insulin levels. Research has proven that simply using turmeric as a food seasoning can reduce serum cholesterol levels. If you get a cold, cough or the flu, you can feel better sooner by mixing one tsp of turmeric powder in a glass of warm milk & drinking it once daily. If you have a cut or burn, you can sprinkle turmeric powder on the affected area to speed up the healing process. It supports overall brain health by aiding in the removal of plaque build-up in the brain & improving the flow of oxygen. Ginger has cleansing properties.

  • ACV

Apple cider vinegar is like an all-in-1 formula. Add lemon & you have a wonderful & easiest-to-make detox drink. The recommended way to take it is adding it to distilled water & drinking it before a meal. It will help your food get digested properly so your body can use the nutrients the food contains. Some folk remedy experts contend that apple cider vinegar contains pectin, which can help soothe intestinal spasms. Diluted apple cider vinegar helps with acne when applied on the skin.

  • CINNAMON

A powerful spice less valued today. It has powerful anti-oxidants & anti-inflammatory properties. It fights bacterial (prevents tooth decay & reduces bad breath) & fungal-infections, & repairs tissue damage. It can cut the risk of heart disease, reduce cholesterol levels, blood pressure & blood sugar levels.  Smelling cinnamon enhances cognitive processing & consuming it significantly ups brain function. Add half-a-tsp Cinnamon powder + Ginger + Honey to warm water & drink the concoction half an hour before going to bed. Add Lemon juice to the same concoction & drink it first thing in the morning.

Hope the list helps a few more flying damsels-in-distress but you can still not skip your sit-ups & ignore the treadmill!
